Welcome to the Village of Maywood. The Village of Maywood, Illinois is Celebrating it's 125th Anniversary having been incorporated as a municipality on October 22, 1881. Congress designated Maywood the Village of Eternal Light to honor the soldiers from Maywood who died on the Bataan death march. Maywood is located ten miles west of Chicago, Illinois. Town Hall Meeting - 3/25/08 : Mayor Yarbrough and the Board of Trustees host Cook County Board of Review Commissioner, Larry Rogers, Jr. and staff, at a Town Hall Meeting on March, 25, 2008. The focus of of the meeting centered on appealing property tax assessments. Citizens overwhelmingly responded with interest and recieved timely information and assistance.

Books Alive-Maywood Fine Arts Association : The Books Alive performed by Maywood Fine Arts Association participants brought to life the following books: Madeline, Life Doesn't Frighten Me, Hands Hands Fingers Thumbs, The Foot Book , The Empty Pot, The Three Billy Goats Gruff and How I Became a Pirate. After each performance one lucky student was given a book. Congratulations to all winners. Each of the books previously mentioned can be found in your school's library and at the Maywood Public Library. The target audience was the Kindergarten through 3rd grade classes to promote reading. Each performance was interactive and had an audience of 200+ students. Thank you to Mrs. Bauman, Mr. Ernie and all performers for such a wonderful event. If you should happen to see Mrs. Bauman or Mr. Ernie remember to say "I love to read!"
